Segun Ojo is the best candidate to replace Mimiko.-Fasesin

Honorable Dapo Fasesin was a former Vice-chairman of Akoko southwest local government council under Chief Adefarati led administration. He was a member of the pension board under the administration of Dr. Mimiko until he recently resigned his membership of the board and the Labor Party. He is the proprietor of New Era Nursery, Primary and Secondary School Oba-Akoko. He spoke with Kayode Mogbojuri in Oba Akoko recently on series of issues bothering on governance, development of Ondo state and the need to replace Mimiko with experienced hand .
The nation is just coming out of a week strike prompted by the removal of the fuel subsidy. How will you describe the position of the Ondo state governor who was reported to have collected N12.5 billion palliative funds and never made attempt to show solidarity to the protesters, when they marched to his office during the strike?
It is callous of the person of Dr. Rahman Mimiko. It is funny that someone like him could support the militarization of the society. Based on what he earlier told us that he is coming to serve the masses, you can see that what he is exhibiting now is far away from the expectation of the people. This is why he cannot stand to welcome or address the protesters and I can assure you if he had attempted to address the protesters, he would have been stoned because he is anti- masses. The reason why he is doing all these is to gather the support of Abuja for 2013 in which he will fail. This is the trick he is putting in place which is unfortunate and to me is apathy to the masses.
You are a member of Sunshine State Rainbow Coalition, what is the coalition all about and what have been the activities in the Northern Senatorial district of the state?
What a beautiful question! We came up with the idea of Rainbow Coalition about two years ago. It is the coming together of people who have vision for this state as you will agree with me that in Ondo state the last time we enjoyed democracy was the time of Late Chief Adefarati. It has been our concern and goal that the masses should come first in the mind of anybody who is saddled with the responsibility of administering the state. And if anything is contrary, such individual is no longer serving the interest of the people. The Coalition is a group that has the interest of the populace at the centre of his agenda and it is working towards bringing out a governor that will prioritized the interest of the people of the state as the utmost interest. On this note, we realize that the person who could lead this state better as shown by his antecedent is the man Segun Ojo. Let me tell you across Ondo North senatorial district and Akokos in particular the Rainbow Coalition is in full force in all the villages, town and city to work and remove the monster that is occupying the government house now and replace him with a man that can serve the interest of the people geniunely.
Segun Ojo no doubt is the convener o the Sunshine State Rainbow coalition and by my findings, the coalition is to project his gubernatorial ambition. How acceptable is this in your senatorial district especially in Akoko?
Let me not deceive you, Honorable Segun Ojo popularly known as the general has set a record for himself already. I want you to know that chief Adefarati administration that is a success and a reference point today is masterminded by Segun Ojo. As a commissioner for finance then, he worked assiduously to ensure that the administration of Adefarati succeeds despite the meager resources at his disposal. With the believe that whatever happens to the administration, he cannot exonerate himself, he has built all the necessary profile he needed to become the next governor. Then he always advice the governor what to do and what ought not to be done at every point in time. This explains why the state can record tremendous achievements. Let me equally tell you that Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko is the only thing the Akokos has to show for democracy in the last thirteen years and Segun Ojo is the brain behind this. My brother, without mincing words, Segun Ojo is the only one that has shown enough convincing profile to lead this state at this material time.
You are an Akoko man, many of your brothers are warming up for governorship and you are a projector of Segun Ojo. How will you relate this to Akoko agenda?
Let us not bother ourselves with an Akoko agenda the task ahead is who can alleviate the suffering of our people and solve the problem of the masses. We are not just talking about anybody it is true I am an Akoko man but when we begin to look at the antecedent of everyone planning to run the gubernatorial race in the whole of Ondo North senatorial district, Segun Ojo is leading. This is the simple truth. I am and Akoko man and I can proudly say I am one of those who champion the course of the present governor before he can emerge as the governor of the state. The major parameter that we are looking towards is the past records of all the contestants and that can give us insight into what to expect from them. We are talking of someone who will think of the people first not his personal interest.
It is observed that people en-mass have been decamping from Labor Party to A C N with special reference to Akoko. What do you think s responsible for this?
It is a simple. I have participated in the activities of the party from foundation and I have in collaboration with others funded the party in Akoko. What made me to leave the Party is what made every other person to defect from the Party to A C N. The party is one man show it is a party that is full of deceit a party where the lieutenants are not allowed to make useful contributions. In a situation where a commissioner is being relegated to the position of S.A and not allowed to make meaningful contribution, the people will have no choice than to leave the party after all nobody is an island of wisdom. In the light of this, people felt that they are capable to be part of a government where they can make useful contribution to ensure that the state grow or develops and it is of no use staying in a party where they are relegated. With A C N providing alternative platform for people contrary to the one man show in Labor Party our people have no choice than to move to A CN.
What is the strength of A CN in your senatorial district and in Akoko land in general?
I do not know the parameter you use to measure the strength of those that are defecting, it is true in the past that it appears that A C N is a sleeping political party but with the caliber of people defecting into the party, if election is conducted today in the state, Mimiko cannot win two percent of the votes in  Akoko. In Akoko southwest here, Mimiko is a forgone issue we have worked out things and we know the level we have attained and come 2013 A CN will emerge as the ruling party in the state not by narrow margin, but by an overwhelming victory at the pool to make a declaration that this is a government for the people.

How will you rate development in Akoko for the past three years that this administration has been on ground?
It is funny seeing people going around making stories that are not real. When I think atimes that Mimiko who served under Adefarati administration ought to have gotten basic understanding of what governance is all about because if you look at the tradition Adefarati served under Ajasin and he never performed below expectation when he was the governor. The likes of Ajasin will never think of himself ahead of the people, Adefarati his lieutenant came in as the governor and he toed the same line but this man came and deviated from the patrimony making stories that are not real. As for development in Akoko, only a foolish man will tell you that something serious is happening here. I move round Akoko every day there is nothing to write home about. His so called mega school is alien to our society as he is coming to re-colonize every where, this is nothing but setting up apathy. How can you explain demolishing structure put in place by Adefarati and Agagu administration to put in place process that are not practicable. In this process our resources are wasted, for instance because of Mega School in Oka will other schools be closed down in the area? From the beginning of the Mega School, you can determine what the end will be and it will be nothing but failure. This man ought to have sustained the legacies of his predecessors and in the process the billions wasted would have been used for something meaningful. But what characterized this administration now are different white elephant projects that are abandoned all over the state. He is going for N50 billion naira loan that will subject the state to abject poverty in the name of serving the state. He is not serving the state but himself and a small group of people.
We learnt Akoko is being industrialized with special reference to Arigidi tomato factory. What is the situation?
I have been at this so called tomato factory nothing is there. You remember Baba Adefarati built a company in Ikare. It is expected of any government that will take over to see the place functioning. In Ekiti state Fayemi has continued with the projects he inherited from his predecessors. This is what we are expecting here but when you see people talking of tomato it is nothing but fallacies. I dot know where the state or Akoko is being industrialized the University that was relocated here by Adefarati’s administration as at now cannot boast of government presence and whatever you are seeing there is through ETF. Akoko is nothing being industrialized and whoever is saying that is just trying to score cheap political points.
You claimed that the Adekunle Ajasin Varsity cannot boast of government presence but in contrary, the governor and his brother claimed that the varsity has be changed to world class University?
Probably with the flowers planted around that is what could have lifted the varsity to world Class University. If I may bring you to the idea of Professor Samuel Otiten you cannot claim that the varsity has attained global status when there are shortage of facilities and a situation when you want to write examination you have to step down one for the other. A campus where student don’t enjoy water and electricity can it be referred to as world Class University?
The people of Ilaje are clamoring that the incoming governor must have a tradition in OSOPADEC that is: must know its genesis and operation and must give it 100 percent autonomy. How will you advise them?
I am impressed by Ilajes views and ideas. The riverine areas that most governments are failing at all times need urgent attention again. Somebody helped chief Adefarati to revive most of the moribund establishments, industries and institutions in Ondo state and Ilaje in particular. Segun Ojo is this agent of revival and OSOPADEC was one of his major concerns then. His position then was that if government has to do anything for the Ilajes, it has to be the OSOPADEC. This advice was taken by Adefarati and a lot of money was pumped into this commission to make it functional and it was with a lot of results to show for it. It is sad that we are hearing a lot of different stories about the same commission now. This administration is not talking about how OSOPADEC could be sustained again, my submission is that somebody who could advice a governor then to put in place OSOPADEC that is the kind of person the southern senatorial district need and we thank God that the records and visible projects are there till date to convince the whole world of what I am saying. Segun Ojo is the brain behind all the fortunes the Ilajes got through OSOPADEC and with him as the next governor, the IIajes will smile again.
As we move to the election period, what quality of individual will you advice the people of Ondo state to look towards as the next governor?
It is simply. We are grateful to God that we have gotten to a level that political education is in place such that you and can see thing ourselves. When we were saying then that the last administration did not listen to the yearnings of the people we thought the one that was coming will not behavedifferently but we now know that he is worst off. I am advising the people of Ondo state to look into the record of everyone. I advise that somene whose interest is the progress of the state as proven by his records must be considered. By the researches and surveyed that has been carried out, the man Segun Ojo will perform better as he has done before. During the last protest, if the governor could snub the state, it is an indication that he cannot lead the state. With God on our side, Segun Ojo who is adjudged by all will emerged as the governor of the state.
What is your advice for the people of Ondo State?
Ondo state people should shun politicians who usually deceive them with two rubbers of rice and N1000 to win elections. Last election, the incumbent spent a huge amount of money and coarse government institutions to sway votes. Anyway, the previous administration that did it failed. This is why I mention political education. Let us educate our people the more that they need to put their votes where the state can get development and the citizens can access basic amenities not those who will exchange the future of he state with a bag of rice and N500.00. The people of the state must work hard to ensure that the government of the state is sent out in the interest of the people.
