“Civil war in Ondo Kingdom”

Mimiko and Soji Bello are the problems of LP – Omodara

For almost two years, the administration of Dr. Rahman Mimiko had come under unprecedented criticism and he had been tagged as the worst governor that the state ever produced.
up till now, many political analyst and public affairs commentator still find it difficult to comprehend why a man like Mimiko who was widely accepted beyond the shore of his state could within a few months of his emergence as the governor loose touch with the fundamentals that made him to be who he was which eventually paved way for his emergence as the governor of Ondo state.
With the way Mimiko is disappointing the people of Ondo state, one major fact that could not be denied today is that: every citizen of Ondo state will not want him to return to office for second term for many reasons of which some are conventional, political and personal. For whatever reasons that could be moving round the state why Mimiko must not return for second term, the deaf, could hear and the blind could see that there are consensus opinions that the man Mimiko must call it quit come February 2013.
That as it may, that the man Mimiko must call it a quit by 2013 does not solve the problem of Ondo state and the people as well. As it is popularly said:  “that there is no endeavor of human existence that it has been well proven than in politics that men do not learn from history for if men do learn from history, history will not repeat itself as it often does”. So, that Mimiko must call it a quit is just a repetition of history and for us not to be repeating history as a state but instead fulfilling purpose, for the first time a question must be asked  and that is: who is the credible alternative that succeeds Mimiko?
The question who succeeds Mimiko with all sense of humility and responsibility is not what every body can answer but it s an answer that all is needed to actualize. With this sense of responsibility and humility, it is pertinent that I answer the question that who is the credible alternative that succeeds Mimiko?
Answering the question on its own is not all about mentioning names, but the parameters upon which such a conclusion is made or the question is answered is very important.
In the forthcoming election, whoever must contend with Mimiko to wrestle power from him must understand one major factor that is coming to play in the election which is violence.
To those who know Mimiko very well, they will agree that he is an apostle of electoral violence and in all calculations, he knows that he has exhausted all possible options that could made him win the election for second term and the last option that is left for him is violence.
As proven from history, there are many ways that Mimiko will unleash violence. As shown in the last general election, the security apparatus of the government were one of the major sources of violence of Mimiko. while I observed the election in the riverine communities, the police, navy and soldiers were deployed to work out the dictates of the incumbent and by all findings, the romance of Mimiko with PDP Abuja is to secure the federal might to unleash violence on the opposition at the pool come 2013 like he was aided by prince Tokunbo Kayode the former minister of defense. With the support and cooperation of the security apparatus, the political urchins of the governor can conveniently operate in snatching away ballots boxes or electoral materials.
Also, the role that money is going to play cannot be undermined. Despite the fact that the people of the state are fed up with the person of Mimiko as the governor of the state, experience has showed that many peoples’ conscience or votes could be bought with stipends.
Therefore, in view of the aforementioned, the person coming to replace Mimiko must be able to match him at all levels and create leverage against all his wiles as the incumbent.
The first assignment before that candidate who will flag the ticket of the coalition of oppositions must have the ability to develop a mass movement in the state that will be strong enough to intimidate any security apparatus of the state that may want to take side with the incumbent to steal the vote of the people, where necessary, prepare a counter violence against the political urchins of the incumbent and the possibility of over power them amidst other issues.
Without any form of deception the person who possesses these qualities cannot me made over night he must have been among us and there must be records to proof these.
In my finding and through the feelers around, there is only one man in the state now that any day anytime the man Mimiko sees as a threat. Once again with all sense of responsibility and humility, the man is Segun Ojo. Even, Mimiko himself knows the man Segun Ojo can match him violence for violence, create mass movement that will develop from the grass-root and make good contact that can generate funds to prosecute the forthcoming election.
Apart from these, Segun Ojo has in his record as a politician that can be trusted with the state resources as proven by his excellent performance while he was the commissioner of finance during Adefarati’s administration.
The creation of OSOPADEC, relocation of former Ondo state university Ado-Ekiti now Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, raising the IGR of the state from N18M to N300M among others.
Comparing all the people that have so far shown interest in the gubernatorial election, it is only Segun Ojo that has shown enough and convincing profile that can appeal for the peoples’ mandate without the electorates having anything to fear.
but with this qualities of Segun Ojo as the man that is to come and reposition ondo state by judicious management of our resources, the people of ondo state who had genuine passion for the development of the state must appeal to the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria and other contestants that Segun Ojo the man that is to come must be allowed to flag the ticket of A CN in the next gubernatorial election of Ondo state .
