Palliative Buses arrives Akure................By Ibrahim Badmus |
As part of the measures to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government, Ondo state government has received part of the palliative measures put in place by the federal government.
Part of the palliatives that the state government received on behalf of the people of the state are 30 seater TATA Buses and tricycles to ease transportation in the state. The Tata buses which were packed at the premises of the ministry of finance Akure according to an undisclosed source in the governor’s office are the first batch of the expected buses and apart from the buses, the federal government is expected to come up with other palliative measures to address the complaints of the masses on the side effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
It will be recalled that the state government had earlier received the whopping sum of N12.5B from the federal government to manage the security situation during the mass protest organized by the Labor unions and coalition of civil society organizations.
The people of the state are already questioning the ways the state government may spend the palliative fund judging from the way the governor squanders the state resources in the past. |
