Re: ODSG defers payment till February 2013.

The headline of the last edition of The Rocket newspaper that bears the title: ODSG defers payment of workers salary till February 2013 had made a good number of civil servants to be worried and unhappy.
This is because there had been a lot of expectations from the workers of the state who thought the governor will keep to the gentleman agreement he had with the Labor unions only for the governor to swallow his swords and start dribbling the workers.
You will recall that there had been a lot of incessant strike in the state and in the administration led by Dr. Mimiko the longest strike in the state was recorded.
This is to tell you that the civil servants in the state are not going to handle with levity the attitude of the governor to the plights of the worker and we shall not hesitate to down tools in other to  press home our demands.
It is therefore my plea that anyone who can prevail on the governor should do so in the interest of the state so that the workers will have reasons to laugh again.

Dear Editor,

Re: NDLEA impounds ODSG Hilux jeep.

It is very embarrassing to hear and read that a hilux bus belonging to the state government was apprehended by the men of the National Drug and law enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while transporting cannabis from owo.
This I must say had dragged the integrity of the state in the mud and it is very unfortunate that the state government had not made any categorical statement on his matter.
I am equally disturbed that the rate at which this cannabis are been produced in the state without any measure taking by the government to forestall this illegal activities.
I will therefore suggest the state House of Assembly the pass necessary bills that will checkmate these activities as it will soon make the security of the state to degenerate.

Dear Editor,

Re:
Bola Tinubu: morality and politics of a trial.
I so much enjoyed and appreciate the feature you wrote in the last edition titled:
Bola Tinubu: the morality and the politics of a trial.
The feature, which gave an explicit explanation on the politics behind the trial of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the major opposition leader in the country today had generated a robust debate among the conscious layers who continue to analyze what could be the outcome of the trial and the effect it will have on the political landscape of the country and southwest in particular.
While I commend your intellectual sagacity, I want to encourage your organization to always maintain your objectivity as you have been doing.

Dear Editor,

Re: What Obasanjo told Mimiko
The story “what Obasanjo told Mimiko” had added weight to the long time speculation that Dr. Mimiko will join Peoples' Democratic Party.
Although, I am not surprise or caught unaware by this story but the only concern I have is that what kind of human being is this man called Dr. Mimiko? He believes so much in politics of deceit and thinks he can always outsmart everyone
Up till now, Mimiko had not change is character of playing or dribbling everybody that comes its way as I thought he would have done immediately he became the governor . He believes he can always continue like this and have his way like he played Baba Adefarati, Agagu, Obasanjo and Tinubu .
I think he should be advised to tread cautiously because there seems to be more evils ahead of him be cause down the history, nobody ever did what he is doing and get away with it.

Dear Sir,

Re: 900 million naira used to renovate stadium.

I read the story of how governor Mimiko awarded the renovation of the Akure township stadium to a construction firm twice with the total sum of 900 million naira.
You have once again taken the world by surprise by the information you released and with the way you backed it up with those letters that were placed on the pages of the news paper.
What amazes me is that you evidently convinced your audience that there are facts to back up whatever issues you have published as you published the two copies of the contract letters issued to the same company.
Having seen your effort and salute your courage, there are two suggestions I want to give and these are
Firstly, try to investigate the interests or ownership of the company that collected this huge some of money and the people of the state through your paper must be encouraged to take legal action and political steps to bring the governor and everyone involve in this criminal act to book. By political actions, I mean the civil society groups, labor unions, trade unions etc must be mobilized to stage a mass protest against the financial recklessness of the governor.
While I salute your courage, I equally want to advice you to be security conscious. Together we shall make Ondo state great.

Dear Editor,

Re: ilaje students in violent protest.

Thank you so much for the publicity you gave to the protest embarked upon the National Association of Ilaje students on Tuesday 6th of September 2011. I must first apologize for the ways the students mobbed your reporter as they thought he is an agent of the state but event later showed that he had covered the protest in fairness to all parties especially in the interest of the public.
If it had not been for your report that was widely read on the internet, the public would have been mis-informed about the intention of the students to have stage the protest.
The ondo state oil producing area development commission in response to the protest had started paying but majority of the students as at the time of mailing you have not been paid.
It is the believe of the people of ondo state that your newspaper is indeed a timely development to ensure that the voices of suffering and the toiling masses of the state are heard.
You shall be updated as events unfold. Thank you god bless.

Dear sir
Re: ODSG to retrench Teachers
I am a student in one of the tertiary institutions in the southwest. I have four sibling of which two of them are also in a tertiary institution of learning.
Our parents are teachers in the employment of the teaching service commission, Ondo state.
For the past two months, we have suffered unimaginable hardship because none of my parents have received a dime from the government in the last two months.
As a result of this, they have not been able to send me anything for my daily obligations as student. My younger ones are equally affected.
As a medical student, maximum concentration has been impaired,I am forced to think of how to sustain myself and my two siblings who are ladies and are equally in the same circumstances like myself in their school.
Up till now, I have not known the reasons while the governor chose not to pay the salaries of the teachers. With what I am equally reading from your paper on the web that the governor is planning to retrench teachers, sir, I am afraid what the lives of the dependant of these teachers will be.
I hereby want to employ you to use your paper to do every thing possible to ensure that the governor pays the teachers and drop his idea of retrenching workers.

Dear sir,
Ilaje lacks government attention.
I thank you for your exposition on Ilaje in your last edition.
The community like you pointed out has numerous economic advantages for the state. The federal government having realized the level of devastation and its potentials approved the 14% derivate fund for the development of the area.
The Ondo state Oil Producing Area Development Commission that manages the oil derivative fund that comes to the oil producing communities had not been relevant to the people recently.
To the disappointment of the people of ilaje, no one can say categorically that this is the project that OSOPADEC funds has been expended on.
The article written in the last week edition titled: “Ilaje in the struggle for development” by one Mogbojuri Kayode is a very good one and I agree with all the content of the write up and I want to believe that all the people of that read or will read the article will be happy with it.
Sir, I want your newspaper to help in projecting the course of Ilaje people because the situation there is getting worse on daily basis. Before the place begins to experience social unrest, the government must wake up to her responsibilities. Once again your efforts are commendable and I want to encourage you to keep it up.

Dear Editor,
Re: Mimiko spends 129 million naira on propaganda.
I have been following your news especially those that have to do with the governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. it amazes me the way you are getting those facts that you normally use to support your arguments.
Sometimes, I am forced to think that some of those facts you are using may not be real but what makes me think otherwise is the fact that at no time had the state government made move to debunk your arguments and present their facts as well. The same thing they are doing with the program of Sunshine Liberation Forum that comes up every Thursday 10:am.
At no time had the governor or his representatives react to the allegations that are levied on his administration by these pressure groups.
To me silence means consent. For the governor to have kept silent on the heinous allegations against him means that he is satisfied with these allegations. Whichever way, I hope the rule of law will take its course

Dear sir,
Re: Burgling of Action Congress Lawyers home
Your report on the above subject matter in your last edition caught my attention.
It was reported that the burglars never made away with cash and other valuables found in the house of the lawyer when they broke in. That revelation provoked my inquisition.
For the purpose of confirmation, I contacted the lawyer at his chamber in Akure. He confirmed the story to me.
I am particularly disturbed that issues could degenerate that far. When will our politician learn to play the game according to the rules?
That a lawyer's house could be burgled in matters related to election petition tribunal shows that there are some revelations that are coming that were made hidden during the last election.
Without any iota of doubt, it is my believe that the buglers must have been sent by a politician or political Party who stand to benefit from it had it been it was successful.
While we hope that justice will not be perverted and mis-carried, we implore all the parties concerned to go to equity with clean hands.

Re: Ondo receives N16.3B in July
I read your story in the last week edition titled Ondo receives N16.3 billion in July.
Going by the content of the story, it was dawn on me that there should be a wave of relief to the people of the state.
Notwithstanding, it is important to stress that if not because of your publication, it wouldn't have been well publicized that such a huge amount of money was received by the state government.
With such money coming to the state, it is my believe that the issue of minimum wage that the state government is claiming not to have enough money to pay should be laid to rest.
While I appreciate your effort at giving out accurate information, kindly ensure you give more information that the public ought to known. More grease to your elbow.

Dear Sir,
Re: Mimiko threatens Adaba
Your last edition refers.
Of interest is the adaba news which was reported on page 11 of the above edition.
Reading on the pages of your news paper that Mimiko threatens Adaba because of the opposition that are making case for their group and the state is embarrassing.
Although I find it difficult to believe it because the same Mimko made use of Adaba fm to fight against the  administration of Dr. Agagu without the man going too far to threaten the radio station.
This action of Mr. Governor I must say is a threat to our growing democracy and under no condition must the media station succumb to the intimidation of any Governor.
Peradventure the people can no longer access program like Sunshine Liberation Hour and Oja Oro, it will be my conclusion that the governor had made good his threat and that means the beginning of a dark era in the nation's democracy.
You and your team are doing a good work keep It up,

Re: Ondo Government loses 400 million naira on Arigidi Akoko tomato company.
It is quite interesting to read from your last edition the huge some of money that the government claimed to have expended on the tomato factory yet they have nothing to show for it.
It has been the tradition of this administration led by Dr. Mimiko to be mis- informing people and giving a wrong impression to the outsider that something good is happening in the state whereas nothing is happening.
The people of Arigidi Akoko are happy with your courage to tell the whole world the truth about the company and we implore you to keep up the good work you have started.
Thank you.

Re. Arigidi Akoko Tomato company.
The caption of your story mentioned above does not satisfy me enough. Ondo state government as I view it did not loose the four hundred million naira rather, it would have been better captioned that four hundred million naira was stolen through Arigidi Tomato Company by Ondo state government.
Notwithstanding, I salute your courage to have resolved to use your newspaper to report this wicked act of this so called politicians. They have wasted our resources on white elephant projects. God will certainly pay them back.

RE-SECURITY VOTE
MIMIKO SPENDS N2.1B IN 3MONTHS.
Your incisive report on the outrageous sum of N2.1b allegedly spent on the security matters (for the first quarter of 2011) by the Mimiko led (mal) administration calls for clinical curiosity and mass vigilance.
At N2.1b in three months, it means a whopping of N700m was ingeniously plundered as security vote.
More disturbing was that the quoted period did not record any evidence of threat in any across the state.
A cursory look at the finances of the state between 1999-2003 showed that Chief Adebayo Adefarati barely spent within the range of N550m for four years as security votes.

today, there are overwhelming allegation of mass-looting of the state treasury and abuses of the sate asset against this government to which Dr. Rahman Mimiko has  maintained a grave-yard silence.
Awaiting EFCC attention in this mysterious disappearance of about N19.8b from ondo state government account maintained with Intercontinental bank within the first ninety days in office.
Again, a government who cannot provide minimum wage needed for the average laborers in civil service at a cost of #18,000.00 could afford to pocket N700m from the treasury all in the name of security vote every month.
It is sad, very unfortunate and wicked.

I wish to acknowledge your effort towards informing the people of Ondo state. Your newspaper has provided a platform for the voiceless to ventilate their opinion and concealed grievance.
I am one of the participants in the agricultural training programme of Dr Mimiko. I am from Odigbo Local government. I am one of the trainees at the Ore farm settlement.
It is sad however that having gone through the pains, spent our money and time in a bush- like camp, we are yet to get money from the government. The government promised to assist us after the training but to our surprise, six months after nothing has been given to us.
I wish to appeal to the government to come to our aid. We are serious people. We are ready to contribute to the economy of Ondo state that is  why we have taken time to use our resources to undergo the training.
Thanks
