The crisis in Ifedore Local government area took a dramatic turn on Tuesday as a member of the Labour Party Mr Femi Awomuyide forwarded a petition to the Ondo State House of Assembly alleging that the caretaker committee chairman has mismanaged the resources of the local government.
Femi, a chieftain of the Labour Party The Rocket learnt has made frantic efforts to call the attention of the chairman and the leaders of the local government to the mismanagement of the local government fund by the chairman but was turned down.
He was however prepared to make the matter public by writing to the house of assembly and a copy of the letter sent to the governor.
Irked by the petition and his effrontery, a group loyal to Hon Ajibola , on Tuesday descended on Awomuyide gave him the beating of his life leaving him injured and his mobile phones and wrist watch damaged.
According to a Labour Party source, the case was reported to the police at Ala police station. It was learnt that the caretaker chairman and a member of the house of Assembly Commission, Hon Ayo Agbonmuseri were arrested by the police. “The chairman and Hon Agbonmuseri were arrested by the police over the petition written by one Femi alleging that the chairman in conjunction with some notable leaders in the local government have mismanaged the money of the council. The young man has sent the petition to the house a situation that provoked the anger of the chairman and his supporters. I think Femi was beaten blue black by people believe to be loyalist of Ajibola”, Mr Kola, said.But the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) in charge of Ala police station denied the arrest when contacted on phone by The Rocket correspondent. |
