Aggrieved members of the Ondo state Women in Agriculture have accused former commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Julius Akinnigbagbe, the wife of Ondo state, Mrs Funke Mimiko and the wife of the Chief of staff to the governor of diversion to private hands five trucks of fertilizer that was approved and released to the group.
According to one of the aggrieved members of the group (name withheld), the former commissioner used the letter head of the group to request allocation of fertilizer from the federal ministry of Agriculture for the people of the state only to discover the fertilizer that was meant to be distributed to them have been sold to a northerner. “ We are filled with hopes that we will get fertilizer because we knew when the request for it was made by the former commissioner only to be informed now that they cannot trace it. We made frantic efforts to find out what has actually happened to the fertilizer and we are told it has been dispatched and that it was received and sold to a northerner”, one of the aggrieved persons said.
It will be recalled that Ondo state government has received over N2 billion agric loans from the federal government.
But the former commissioner denied the allegation when contacted on phone by The correspondent of The Rocket newspaper stressing that he is not the fertilizer officer and that he has left office. |
